Bliss gives three impressions of a village in beautiful Brabant. The "classically" introduced first movement deals with the past and the present, while in the second movement saxophones and glockenspiel illustrate the murmuring of the small river before the entire concert band describes the old castle. The rhythmically interesting third part of this varied piece deals with the diverse activities of village life.
