Commissioned by the Twin Ports Wind Orchestra of Duluth, Minnesota, this work honors the life and legacy of one if its own members, James Stellmaker, who enjoyed a long and distinguished career as a public school music educator in Duluth. In contrast to a typical elegy, Twin Ports Overture has a celebratory feel, sparkling and colorful.
