Composed in 1925, and while departing from the usual pastoral style, Winter Pastoral depicts a cold winter morning, in a peaceful atmosphere with snow falling from the trees. Virtuosity is not the hallmark of this piece, but its challenge lies in its delicate interplay of dissonant and traditional harmonies.
