A rather simple piece in itself, Johann Sebastian Bach’s chorale prelude on the hymn tune “Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme” is the first in the set of Bach’s Schübler Chorales (BWV 645), a collection of six chorale preludes published in 1747 by Johann Georg Schübler.
