Zikmund Schul is one of the composers ostracized and persecuted by the Nazis. Born in Chemnitz, he studied in Prague with the composer Alois Hába. Deported to the Theresienstadt concentration camp in 1941, he died of tuberculosis there on 2 June 1944.
