Samuel Lampel was a teacher and music writer in Leipzig.
He came to Leipzig in 1914 and worked here in the Israelite religious community. He rendered special services as head cantor at Leipzig's main synagogue in Gottschedstrasse in the maintenance and further development of synagogue music. In 1928, his main work Kol Sh'moel (The Voice of Samuel) appeared, a collection of 57 liturgical songs.
After the destruction of Leipzig's main synagogue in November 1938, S. Lampel was a teacher at the Second Israeli School in Gustav-Adolf-Straße. He was also the last abortionist at the Brody Synagogue in Keilstraße.
On 13.07.1942 S. Lampel was deported to the Auschwitz concentration camp, where he died.
