As a composer Salvatore Marchesi has published a number of settings of French, German and Italian songs, distiguished for graceful inspiration. But, he is still better known for his Twenty Elementary And ProgressiveVocalises, the ripe fruit of a long and brilliant career as a teacher of vocal art. The Vocalises may, in particular, be recommended for developing breadth and suavity of tone, together with clearness and elegance in phrasing.
