Polka
Since 2019, the idyllic festival forest in Mayrhofen in the Zillertal (Tyrol) have been the setting for a very special musical highlight: the "Blechlawine" (Brass Avalanche) festival. With the idea of creating a small but fine brass music festival that stands for coziness and the highest quality, a platform for brass music fans was created that combines tradition and modernity. One of the festival's mainstays is the "Viera Blech" ensemble, which has the honor of performing at the "Blechlawine" year after year. Inspired by this special connection, organizer Gerhard Meister came up with a remarkable idea: to commission a polka that musically captures the unique flair of the "Blechlawine"-Festival. The resulting polka impressively reflects the soul of the festival – it is at once cozy, high-quality, traditional and modern, varied and soulful. These qualities also aptly describe the composition by Martin Scharnagl, a specialist in sensitive and distinctive polkas. The polka "Blechlawine" is another musical gem in his oeuvre. Like its successful predecessors "Zeitlos" and "Neue Wege," this work also impresses with Scharnagl's signature style and the unmistakable style of the "Viera Blech" group. The polka is further proof of how wonderfully brass music can touch and inspire – a true feast for the ears for fans and festivalgoers alike. The polka can be heard on Viera Blech's anniversary CD "20" (20 Years of Viera Blech).
