Es ist virtuos, hin und wieder lustig und reüssierte bereits in den ersten Aufführungen mit der Sopranistin Ethel Luening. Einen Großteil der Texte für Y. D. Fantasy entnahm Partch Oscar Sonnecks The Star-Spangled Banner, Hail Columbia, America und Yankee Doodle.
