Contemporary works which do not require any accompaniment are in increasing demand both for lessons and as performance, encore and competition pieces. Christian Jost's hitherto unpublished little work from 1989 is ideal for this purpose and a valuable addition to the trombone repertoire. Its original tempo is slow with strongly differentiated dynamics, thus giving clear expression to the lamenting character of 'Elegie'.
