Bach composed the chorale cantata Wo soll ich fliehen hin (O where shall I now go), BWV 5, for the 19th Sunday after Trinity in 1724. This work belongs to the 2nd Leipzig year-cycle of chorale cantatas. The opening movement features an instrumental ritornello whose theme is derived from the chorale melody. In addition, there is a notable “scampering” motive of three sixteenth notes followed by a staccato eighth note.
